It’s really hard for most of us men to be at Church on Saturday mornings from 6 to 7 am (it used to be an hour earlier). What are we doing there? Demonstrating to ourselves and to Jesus that we men of our Parish are willing to sacrifice some comforts to recognize Jesus’ Kingship over our lives.
History: The Man Hour grew out of an inspiration to Deacon Gary Dumer sometime around 2010. Based on his experience of a similar men’s program in the Atlanta area, he recruited men who wanted to do “something extra”.
Format: We meet with Jesus on the Altar (and each other) each Saturday from 6 to 7am. After a short prayer, a topic important to men is introduced and discussed for the rest of the hour. The leader may read an interesting article or something from the news, or we may talk about TMIY. It’s all informal and in good fellowship; no one is required to talk. Group breakfasts on first Saturdays of each month.
Seeking: All the men of the parish who want to love the Lord more and also might find this exercise of self-discipline and fellowship stimulating. All are welcome; we are particularly looking for young single and family men.
